Product Information

  • Reaches up to 60cm high and 100cm spread
  • Full growing and care instructions included

Enjoy earthy flavours and a creamy tang with Thompson and Morgan Baked Potatoes Winter Squash Seeds, offering a nourishing and low-calorie alternative to potatoes that's packed with fibre and essential nutrients, making it a tasty addition to your kitchen garden. You'll find it easy to grow from seed indoors or outdoors, with a generous spread and height, thriving in full sun and ready to harvest from August to November for delicious baked or roasted dishes. Each packet contains 12 seeds and comes with clear growing and care instructions, so you'll have everything you need for a rewarding gardening experience. Sow squash seed indoors from April to May for transplanting later on. Sow squash seeds on their sides in small 7.5cm pots of seed compost at a depth of about two centimetres. Place in a propagator or seal pots inside a plastic bag at a temperature of 20-25°C (68-77F) until germination, which takes five to seven days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination. Once germinated, grow squash on in cooler conditions until all risk of frost has passed and squash plants are large enough to be transplanted outdoors. Gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over seven to ten days before planting squash outdoors in warm, well-drained, humus-rich soil in full sun. Choose a spot that receives at least six hours of direct sun per day. Alternatively, direct sow squash seeds outdoors from May once the soil has warmed at a depth of two centimetres and a distance of 90cm apart. Sow two seeds per hole and thin out the weakest seedling per station after germination. Ideally, grow under cloches until squash plants are established. Product Specifications: Position: Full sun. Height: Up to 60cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 100cm when fully established. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Images may be included to illustrate supply, but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
