Looking for a foliage plant that demands attention? The Alocasia x amazonica, with its arrow-shaped, evergreen leaves, makes a magnificent statement. Reaching up to 60cm (24") in length, each dark green leaf boasts contrasting silvery-white veins, creating a visually stunning display.
This Alocasia makes a superb specimen plant, ideal for adding a lush, jungle feel to a warm room or conservatory in a lightly shaded spot. Expect it to reach a height and spread of up to 1m (39").
For optimal care, provide bright light, avoiding direct sunlight. A warm room with temperatures above 15C (59F) is ideal, away from central heating and draughts. Water consistently, allowing the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings, and ensure proper drainage. Reduce watering in winter to prevent soggy soil and potential root rot.
Feed regularly between March and September during active growth. This plant thrives in a humid atmosphere, so stand it on a tray of pebbles and water to increase moisture in the air.
