Acer palmatum ‘Moonrise’ is a recent introduction, prized as a feature plant. This Acer boasts stunning, colourful foliage, providing dramatic autumn interest, transitioning from pale green in summer to vibrant red and cerise during the autumn months. Red-winged seedpods also appear, beautifully complementing the foliage. For best results, pot up your Acer plants and nurture them in a cool, frost-free environment until they are sufficiently developed for planting outdoors. Once established, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them into their final positions in borders. Grow these Acer trees in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, in a sunny or partially shaded location, ensuring protection from strong winds that can scorch the delicate leaves.
