Brussels Sprout 'Crispus' F1 plants are the go-to choice for a clubroot-resistant hybrid, ready for spring planting and an abundant autumn harvest. 'Crispus' boasts excellent stability, impressive vigour, and a truly delightful flavour – an absolute essential for any kitchen garden or allotment. Expect smooth, dark green sprouts of exceptional quality, clinging steadfastly to the stalk and maintaining top condition for an extended period.
Consider pairing your Brussels sprouts with Nasturtiums to lure cabbage white butterflies away, or mint to keep flea beetles at bay. Nurture your plug plants in warm, frost-free environments until they're well-established and all frost risk has passed. Gradually introduce them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before transplanting into firm, rich, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Enhance the soil in early spring with plenty of well-rotted farmyard manure to boost its structure and fertility.
Space brassicas 60cm (24") apart and shield them with protective netting or fleece to ward off birds and insects. Water thoroughly after planting.
