It functions by establishing an air and watertight seal around the post's surface, effectively blocking the elements needed for wood decay: fungi, oxygen and moisture. Deeper in the ground, oxygen levels are insufficient for fungal survival, negating the need for protection in this area. The 20-year post-replacement guarantee covers rot protection when applied to a 2ft (60cm) post-burial depth.
