How do you dress a side table?

You can style a side table by adding a lamp, books or even vases. If you're feeling even more creative, try adding a tray that can host trinkets, coasters and photographs.

Can a side table be higher than a sofa?

Yes. A side table can be higher than a sofa. However, most of them will be the same height or lower than a sofa. Tall designs can be great if you need easy access to items and can add to the dynamics of your living room furniture, especially if your sofa is low.

Do side tables need to match?

You can try pairing a tall side table with one that's low or small, along with blending contrasting shapes like round and rectangular or mix-and-matching designs, for example a modern scandi side table and with a classic wooden style.

How many side tables should you have in a living room?

One to three side tables are the norm for a living room. However, the size and shape of your living room may mean you can have more.

If you're working with a small space, you may benefit from a few narrow side tables that can fit against walls or next your sofa. With a bigger living room, you have more scope to play with different shapes, so try matching round and square designs on either side of your settee.
