Our Direct to Metal Paint is a high quality water based paint that provides a tough and durable finish to your metal. This non drip, low odour paint has a quick recoat time and is showerproof in just 30 minutes. Direct to Metal Paint will protect your metal from rusting and provides a 15 year protection. It can be applied directly to rust with no primer needed and is ideal for interior and exterior bare metal, cast iron, galvanised steel, aluminium, stainless steel, wood and PVC.
When using Ronseal's Direct to Metal Paint choose a dry day, above 10°C, when it's not likely to rain. Make sure the metal is clean, dry and free from dirt, dust and grease and give the paint a really good stir for 2-3 minutes. Use a roller or brush to apply it, alternatively if you would prefer to spray this product, make sure you dilute the paint with about 10% water or to the spray specifications. 2 coats will provide sufficient coverage, but 3 coats are recommended for rusty surfaces and ultimate durability. Leave it to dry for 2-4 hours between each coat and after your last coat, it'll be touch dry in 30 minutes.
To keep your metal looking its best, check for any imperfections every year. If you notice any cracks, blisters or scratches, sand off any loose bits and touch up the area with 2 coats of our Direct to Metal Paint.
