- Attracts pollinators with fragrant lavender-blue blooms
- Hardy and perfect for sunny cottage garden borders
- Low maintenance, easy to care for all gardeners
A classic shrub for cottage gardens, the Thompson & Morgan Lilac ‘Katherine Havemeyer’ boasts elegant panicles of double lavender-blue flowers set against heart-shaped foliage. This trouble-free, quick-growing variety produces nectar-rich, fragrant blooms, irresistible to butterflies and bees, making it ideal for wildlife gardens and scented gardens, and a wonderful specimen plant. A low-maintenance specimen, ‘Katherine Havemeyer’ thrives in a sunny spot with rich, fertile, well-drained soil; young plants benefit from a sheltered location. Reaching up to 700cm in both height and spread, this spreading lilac is perfect for adding structure and scent to your garden. Feed and water regularly until established. Prune in winter or spring, removing any damaged, diseased, or misplaced stems, then lightly shape the remaining stems. After pruning, mulch with well-rotted manure or garden compost. This hardy variety is easy for all to grow and care for. Please note that depending on the timing of your order, flowers may not appear in the first season.
