Frequently Asked Questions

Say goodbye to muddy hallways! Prevent dirt from entering your house with a handy outdoor mat from Homebase. Equally great for garages and garden sheds, browse our collection of coir and rubber outdoor mats to find the one that’s best for you. Pair your doormat with a hallway runner or a washable rug inside the front door for a truly welcoming entranceway.

How to clean a coir doormat?

Using a stiff brush and a little elbow grease, give your outdoor mat a good shake and remove any loose dirt and leaves. As our outside door mats are weather and waterproof you can then use a garden hose or a bucket of water to remove any more stubborn dirt. For a thorough clean, submerge your outdoor mat in a tub of lukewarm soapy water for an hour or so before rinsing thoroughly and leaving to dry in a sunny spot.

What is a coir doormat?

Coir is a common material for outdoor mats as it is hardwearing and particularly effective when it comes to scraping mud and dirt off shoes. Coir is a natural material, made from the coarse hairs that cover the shell of a coconut. Coir is biodegradable, making coir outside door mats an environmentally-friendly choice.

What size is a doormat?

Outside mats vary in size and shape so it's a good idea to measure your space to see home much room you have to work with. Our product descriptions will detail the exact dimensions so you can make sure you find your perfect fit.
