Ronseal's Nourishing Decking Oil nourishes and protects your decking while leaving a lightly tinted finish. It's rainproof in only two hours and ready for a second coat in only six hours. Nourishing Decking Oil stops water from seeping in and damaging your deck. It also protects against the sun and stops it from turning grey.

To prepare untreated, weathered decking, use a restorer to bring out the natural colour of the deck. This will also help the oil adhere to the surface better. To prepare previously finished decking, use decking cleaner to remove dust, grease, oil, mildew and algae. If there are any patches that are loose, peeling or flaking they will need to be removed otherwise the oil will be patchy. Use decking stripper to completely remove the top layer and take it back to the bare wood. Protect bare ends with grain protector to prevent moisture from seeping in. To prepare new wood, let it weather naturally for around six months before oiling it. This ensures that any pre-treatment has eroded giving a fresh surface to apply the oil. Once the wood has weathered, use a scrubbing brush and some decking cleaner to completely remove traces of the pre-treatment. Rinse it thoroughly with water, ideally using a pressure washer. To make sure you’ve removed all the pre-treatment, throw some water on the decking. If it beads, you need to keep scrubbing and cleaning.
