The police have recently contacted us regarding an investigation into criminal activity where email addresses and passwords, unlawfully obtained from a third party, may have been used to access the Homebase website between November 2015 and March 2016. We understand the criminal activity was to attempt to gain access to Nectar card numbers.
While we exited the Nectar card scheme in January 2017, we wanted to update customers who have been impacted at the earliest possible opportunity so you can take the necessary precautions to protect your personal data and Nectar card points, if necessary.
Suggested customer action:
- If you have noticed any loss of points on your Nectar account, or would like to check whether your account has been affected, you should contact Aimia, the owners of the Nectar scheme on 0344 811 0 811 (Hours of Operation: 08:00 - 20:00 Monday to Friday; 09:00 - 17:00 Saturday to Sunday).
- We take online safety and security extremely seriously and would strongly advise updating passwords associated with your email accounts. Help and advice can be found at www.cyberaware.gov.uk/passwords
- If you notice other suspicious activity on your email accounts, we recommend that you alert ActionFraud, the UK’s national fraud and cybercrime reporting centrehttps://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
- Please do not hesitate to contact us on 0345 077 8888 if you have any queries.
If further information becomes available, we will update this web page with more information and advice.
