Grape vines, or Vitis vinifera, are woody plants that climb by tendrils and can grow to about 15-18m tall. Leaves are 3 or 5-lobed, coarsely toothed, to 15cm long and wide, with stalks half as long as the blade. Flowers are tiny, greenish, in loose panicles and form oval fruits or globose grapes in autumn. This species has many named cultivars, selected for edible fruits, or for ornamental qualities as the leaves are variable in size, shape and colour. They produce juicy fruits that are great for eating or wine making. This self-clinging climber is ideal for a pergola, wall or large container and comes in a standard format.
