Munstead' Lavender is a much-loved, traditional English Lavender, renowned for its reliable garden performance, tolerance of dry conditions, and overall hardiness, alongside its stunning display of colour and scent. This variety features compact, bushy foliage complemented by long flowering stalks in summer, lending a relaxed aesthetic. Establishing quickly, it excels as low hedging, pathway edging, or filling spaces at the front of sunny borders and in large patio containers. Throughout the year, the aromatic, silver-grey, evergreen foliage offers structure, colour, and fragrance. Expect a spectacular summer show of fragrant lilac-mauve flowers, irresistible to bees and butterflies. These fragrant blooms are ideal as fresh cut flowers or for drying. Easy to grow, drought-tolerant, and very low maintenance, it thrives in a sunny location with free-draining soil. Lavender dislikes wet conditions, especially in winter; improve heavy soils by incorporating coarse grit or sharp sand before planting. Water regularly during the summer until fully established, after which it becomes reasonably drought-tolerant.
