Product Information

  • Yellow, green and orange foliage
  • Perfect for containers, an upright bush
  • Slow growing with autumn colour flair

Gooseberry Giggles Green presents a wonderful opportunity to cultivate your own supply of delectable medium-sized berries! These plants arrive as 9cm potted specimens, ready to be planted directly into your garden. For optimal growth, choose an open, sunny location with well-drained soil.
Before planting, enrich the soil with a generous helping of well-rotted manure or garden compost. Be sure to remove any shoots or dormant buds from the base of the plant to prevent unwanted suckers. Plant gooseberries 1.5m (5ft) apart, ensuring they are planted at their original depth, as indicated by the mark on the stem.
Specifications:.
Hardy Shrub.
Position: Sun or Semi-Shade.
Supplied as 3x 9cm Potted Plants.
Water thoroughly during the first year to help the plants establish. During hot periods, ensure the soil remains consistently moist. Remove any suckers that appear at the base of the plant. Netting the bushes will protect the berries from birds.
Harvest some gooseberries in May for cooking and freezing, and allow the remaining fruit to ripen fully in June for enjoying fresh. Prune gooseberry plants during winter, removing any dead, damaged, or crossing stems, and thin out the remaining stems to create an upright, open bush. Shorten the leftover stems by half. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil.
Images are for guidance only and show expected results upon maturity. Different growing conditions may vary results. The image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
