Planting instructions
Select a planter made of heavy material to prevent toppling. It should have at least one hole in the bottom to allow water to drain out. The width of the planter will depend upon the size of the chamaedorea palm, but should be large enough to easily accommodate the plant's root ball.Fill the planter with potting soil, then scoop out an area that will contain the root ball.Transplant the palm into the planter with its roots at the depth they were previously growing. Water until the soil is moist to the bottom of the planter.
Rate of growth
Soil type
The Chamaedorea elegans thrives best in a permeable, nutrient low substrate with a slightly alkaline pH value. Use palm earth or a mixture out of one half compost and the other foliage earth. Regular flower earth should be mixed with sand. The pH value of the substrate can be determined with a test stick.
Watering instructions
Underwatering a Parlour Palm is better than overwatering. Water well then wait until the surface of the soil has dried out, at which point water well again. Limit the amount of water given when light or temperature levels are low simply because in those conditions plants don't need as much water.

Safety information
Parlour Palm isn't poisenous for pets and people.

Room temperature
Warmth is needed for actual growth to occur (20?C - 27?C / 68?F - 80?F). A lower temperature is fine as the plant will still survive providing it doesn't dip much below 10?C / 50?F, just be aware that slow or no growth might be symptom of the temperature being too cold.
Room position
Low light to moderately bright light. If leaves are yellowish-green, it may be getting too much sun.
Feeding instructions
Because there are often several plants in a single pot all fighting for the limited number of nutrients in the soil, you should look to feed on a semi regular basis. That said, these palms are still relatively small and don't need masses of feed to do well. A general feed once every couple of months will be enough.
