My Dad deserves

What does your Dad deserve this Father's Day?

This June it's time to give your Dad the love and recognition he deserves by treating him to a special Father's Day. Here at Homebase, we know just how valuable Dads are and this Father's Day we want to know what your Dad deserves and why, for you to stand the chance of winning a gift card from Homebase, to the value of £100. Plus, to make him feel extra special we have partnered with Handmade Burger Co. to offer a meal worth up to £120 for him and his family.

What would be your ideal way to spend Father's Day?

TV presenter Dr Dawn Harper shares what her Dad deserves this Father's Day:

You've heard the phrase "he could fish for England", well actually my Dad really did! He was in the England fly fishing team and always out did us when we fished for mackerel as children! He is a true countryman, and has been an amazing father to me so I think he deserves a day's fishing on the River Tweed. That would be his idea of heaven! He makes his own flies so I am getting him an all singing all dancing tool box to keep all the kit in.

My Dad's a great DIY man and really helped me with a whole host of tasks and decorating when I moved house, but he will much prefer having a tool kit full of fly fishing paraphernalia.

Chris Hawkins

BBC 6 Music Radio presenter Chris Hawkins shares his views on what would be his ideal way to spend Father's Day:

"My ideal day would consist of a morning with my wife and daughter at the local park, followed by a Sunday roast and a lazy afternoon watching a movie (even if it is Frozen for the 1000th time).

My ultimate gift would be a lie-in. I get up at 3.30am every morning for my Early Breakfast Show, so a few hours extra in bed would be magic!"

What gifts would be perfect for a DIY Dad this Father's Day?

If your Dad is keen on his home improvement and can often be found with a screwdriver behind his ear and a hammer in his hand, a power tool will be the perfect gift this year. A hammer drill can make tasks simpler, such as putting up shelving and hanging pictures frames, with cordless options allowing the versatility of getting to even the most awkward of spaces.

Take a look at our drills buying guide for more tips on finding the perfect one. Alternatively, you could get your Dad a tool box or belt to allow him to keep all of his nuts and bolts together in one easy to reach place.

Give your Dad the day off and complete your own DIY tasks yourself with help from Homebase. Take a look at all of our DIY how to guides, including how to upgrade a plug socket and how to put up a shelf and allow your Dad to have a much needed rest.

What gifts would be great for a green-fingered Dad this Father's Day?

Karcher pressure washer

A pressure washer is a garden tool that can help to transform your Dad's garden this year. Whether he uses it to wash down his beloved decking, or to spruce up the patio - it can help make easy work of otherwise quite time consuming tasks. Plus, he can also use it to clean the car!

Alternatively, give him a new project for his vegetable patch or greenhouse with some fruit, herb & vegetable plants and you can also reap the rewards by tasting his new crop!

Give him a steer in the right direction by getting our top plant advice on how to grow your own tomatoes, strawberries and more.

Here at Homebase we also have the perfect plant feed and compost for whatever the plant requires.
