American pancakes



  • 200g (7oz) self raising flour
  • 1 level tsp baking powder
  • 300ml (10fl.oz) milk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 level tsp salt
  • 1 oz butter, melted
  • Oil for frying


1. Sieve the flour into a large bowl with the baking powder.

2. Whisk in the milk and beaten egg, salt and the melted butter.

3. Pour large spoons of the batter onto a heavy based frying pan with a little oil.

4. Flip the pancakes over when golden brown and cook the other side.
