Venture into the jungle

Read our step-by-step guide below to create a rainforest backdrop fit for your king or queen of the jungle.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1

Choose a base colour, paint the walls and the ceiling, allow it to dry.

Step 2

Mark out three horizon points on each of the longest walls using a pencil or chalk.

Step 3

Cut two pieces of lining paper the length of the wall. Next, tear the paper in half horizontally to create a torn, wavy-edged line.

Step 4

Line up the torn edge with the first horizon mark. Fix the paper in place with masking tape. The torn edges will create the jungle horizon line.

Step 5

Using a small paint roller, paint over the torn edge and down the wall to below the next horizon line. Allow the paint to dry.

Step 6

Once the first layer of paint is dry, repeat the process using the other piece of torn paper. This time use the paint in the mid tone. Repeat this again, with the darkest paint, painting from the horizon line that’s closest to the floor.

Step 7

Now add in your favourite jungle creatures - monkeys, elephants, parrots - to complete the look.
