Give your garden furniture a new lease of life by following these easy steps. Choose an ‘on trend’ paint colour to update your entertaining zone or experiment with different designs to create stylish furniture that’s unique to you.

Tools for the job:

Step 1:

Sand the surface of the furniture to remove any varnish or lacquer and to make it easier for the primer to adhere.

Step 2:

Remove any remaining residue by wiping gently with a clean cloth. If necessary, use a mild detergent then dry thoroughly.

Step 3:

Using a paint brush gently brush an even coat of the primer onto the surface of the wood and allow it to dry.

Step 4:

Lightly sand the primed surfaces with a fine sandpaper as this will help your paint bond to the primer. Wipe away any dust or residue before you paint.

Step 5:

Paint the furniture using even strokes, paying special attention to edges and corners. Allow it to dry. Touch up any areas that were not covered by the first coat.

Step 6:

When the first coat is dry you can apply a second coat if desired.

Step 7:

Once the paint is dry you can apply a varnish or sealant to protect the paint.
