The wood is good quality and there is a wide choice of sizes - though I would have loved a service that cut it to the length I required!

I bought this dowel to fix a net curtain to my UPVC windows instead of purchasing an expensive curtain rod. It worked a treat, holds the weight of the curtain no problem & was very easy to cut down to the right length to fit the width of my window. It was reasonably priced & much cheaper than buying a curtain rod but looks just as good & I was able to attach it using cheap self adhesive hooks. I even had enough left, after cutting down to size, to use on a small landing window too. Pleased with my purchase.

Dowels can be used for many things, this particular purchase was used as the main support for a very large wedding cake, it had to be straight, smooth, strong and of the highest quality anything less would not do.
We also use dowels to reinforce the joints in the summer house we are building, the price we paid was fair for an excellent product.

I buy this item to use in the construction of kites. The dowel I purchased had a grain that ran diagonally across the sections so that it broke when any bend was applied. It was impossible to find a length that did not have a comb joint part way along making bend radii non uniform.
I understand that it is now difficult to get a good quality dowel such as ramin due to green issues so I will have to use an approved importer.
As such this item is totally useless for my application.

My son was applying for a position at teacher training college and needed to demonstrate a maths lesson for primary school children. His aim was to use different lengths of piping or wood to use for squares, rectangles and triangles.
The materials he was considering were either too rough or heavy. I knew exactly the right thing for him. The dowel pine was just the job. Long enough to be cut into six equal pieces for the children to be able to hold, light and smooth so that they wouldn't get splinters.
My son? Oh, he got the position and starts in January. Dad's know Homebase.
