Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Split vertically down the blade Like the other one star review, my spade also snapped. Slightly wet soil after an hours digging it split vertically down the blade for no apparent reason. I can understand a handle snapping, but not the metal blade it self which seems poor quality. I'd take it back, but I don't have the receipt. Until it snapped, was very nice to use. 01 October 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by better than expected D handle comfortable to use. Wider than normal lugs at top of blade were good and stopped blade pushing into the sole of your boot. It would be 5 star if the designers put a crank in the lower part of the handle. i.e. closest to the blade. My previous spade, which is no longer in production, had this, and was admired by many users for it.s 50 year life! 05 September 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lovely tool This is a great tool to use, it is not too heavy and is very sturdy. 09 May 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excelllent quality The style and shape of this sturdy, digging spade makes it easy to use. The footplates give a platform to steady yourself whilst pushing down into the earth. The moulded handle is a comfortable grip and the construction of the handle feels strong enough to take the digging weight without buckling. Really pleased with this purchase. 02 February 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Making light work of my new veg patch I bought this to replace a spade that I had bent by accident. I wish I'd bought this sooner. A very comfortable grip and handle - means you can dig for a long time without getting sore hands. The foot plates mean you can easily drive the spade into firm ground, with what feels like very little effort. 02 February 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant Digging gets easier!...This spade is light. so you can turn the soil over quickly ....it .has a foot rest so digging is more efficient........the small blade just means soil between plants is disturbed..... Also the long handle gives a tall person extra leverage..Brilliant!!! 13 July 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by It's a Spade! I always like to call a spade a spade and this is definitely a spade. However, it is a good spade and is easy to dig with even in the horrible ground I was digging. The large area for your foot is very helpful and makes it easy to apply pressure. 13 July 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by DO NOT BUY This spade had looked good; it was light, was 'ergonomic' with a nice handle. When I went to use it is started off well- slicing through the soil beautifully, but split down the middle (not quite in half, but near enough) after just a few holes. My allotment is regularly dug over and the soil was damp after rain a few days before, so there was no stress on the spade at all- this type of malfunction is just not what you'd expect. It was the best available at Homebase (both cheaper and more expensive spades are too heavy or not comfortable to hold), so my advice would be to go elsewhere to try other brands. 16 March 2011
