How tall should my floor lamp be?

Floor lamps can measure anything from 125cm to 175cm in height. The size of your space will determine how tall your floor lamp should be, as it's all about keeping the height proportionate to the rest of the room. If you have very high ceilings, a floor lamp that's shorter than 140cm can run the risk of being overlooked. Alternatively, a very tall lamp in a low-ceilinged home will feel cramped and intrusive.

Choose from a range of finishes, including wooden, pewter, chrome, brass, and powder-coated metal options to name but a few. Whether you favour a Scandi-inspired interior or a more traditional country cottage look, our range of floor lights includes something for every style and size of home.

Do floor lamps use more electricity?

The electricity consumption of a lamp is not determined by its size, but by the type of bulb used. A floor lamp fitted with an LED light bulb will use far less electricity than a small table lamp or pendant ceiling light with a filament bulb.

What kind of floor lamp gives the most light?

The brightness of any lighting is determined by the lightbulb used. Brightness is measured in lumens, and will be detailed on the packaging of any bulb you buy. It used to be the case that the higher the wattage, the brighter the bulb would be. However, with the development of more energy efficient LED technology, this is no longer the case.

Read the product details for your floor lamp for specific bulb requirements and cap fitting information. Our light bulb buying guide offers further details on the different types of bulb, including the most energy efficient options and how to measure brightness.
