Label specified this product on the plant, felt a cheaper one would have done. The packet was very wet and dirty

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ferny Best general compost for ferns
I am new to fern gardening so was cautious as to which compost to use for repotting. John Innes No. 3 has just the right amount of grit to allow free drainage and the ferns have really flourished since.

You can't beat abit of John Innes No.3 - not recommended on your cereal, but lovely on your seedlings, which will turn into lovely planty things, you know?
Anyone know who John Innes is?
