I was hoping that I would be able to lift this but found too heavy for me, a stronger lady be able to do it .
My husband has cut the hedge and trimmed all of the conifers, they now look good and tidy.
He found it easy to use, it just takes bit of adjusting for different heights and angles.

The trimmer had to be ordered for home delivery, as it is not stocked in any of the Homebase stores nearby. Homebase called on the following day (Monday) to confirm that the trimmer would arrive sometime on Wednesday - it came on Thursday, while I was out - a poor courier service.
The trimmer is easy to assemble, although the bolt which links the two parts is a little fiddly to insert into its partner nut. I was ready to start work within an hour of unpacking - most of the time spent reading all the safety information in the manual.
The unit is very effective, and tackled thicker branches than my existing normal-reach hedge trimmer can manage. My hedge is a 120-foot long cherry laurel, over 12 feet high, which had been professionally levelled six months ago and now needed the new growth to be trimmed back. The multiple angles of the cutting head, and the variable length pole, made it straightforward to set the machine up for best effect, and the cutting was fast and clean, although I seemed to spend a lot of time tightening and loosening the knob which locks the pole at various lengths. I am tall and strong, but I still found the trimmer to be a heavy load when fully extended, rather like holding a bucket of water on the end of a broom handle, so I could only use it for short periods before needing a cool-down rest.

Good long reach to get to high or deep hedges. Not over noisy and the supplied strap offers support for the weight when using the trimmer at full extension. Having the motor near the cutting end does make the unit a little unbalanced at first but with practice it soon becomes manageable. It is more practical being electrically controlled than petrol-engined units and this 500w trimmer is probably better for continuous use than the larger Grizzly unit which is twice as heavy.
This trimmer makes hedge cutting at height a smooth operation.

Great reach and effective cutting blade. Has quality feel and should last well. Only two bolts and nuts to attach before it's ready to use.
Quite heavy and will require reasonable strength to control once fully extended.
Unfortunately it arrive directly from Grizzly missing one nut which secured the extending section. Luckily I had something suitable in my toolbox but otherwise it would have been inconvenient.

A well made trimmer with a head that can be locked into the angle required rather than just slid to it. Rather heavy to use without using the carrying strap.

A perfect piece of gardening equipment - the handle can be extended to reach a good height and the blade can be set at right angles (ideal for tops of hedges, without the need for a ladder). The flex is shortish so an extension flex is always needed. In weight this trimmer is about middle of the range.

This product really does the job, but it is a bit heavy. Fully extended, a lot of people are going to have trouble keeping it up for more than 10-20 secs at a time.
That said, that's probably true for them all, the extending ones anyway. Pity they couldn't put the motor in the handle like the petrol ones. I will use it for hard to reach areas and get a standard one for areas I can reach easily.
