If you live in a hard water area then this is not for you, as it impacts the flap which is likely to need replacing after a year. Also don't buy if you have a slimline WC. In my case with an old standard cistern the came from Homebase a few years back the handle interfered with the inlet valve and the extended handle arm was not long enough. Had to take it back.

Renewing a 'duff' syphon unit gave me the opportunity to upgrade the whole cistern system! As a confirmed non-fan of plumbing in general I was pleasantly surprised that the conversion kit was simple to insert and once the inevitable leaks were cured, all has worked effectively. The next one will be even easier to fit!

I decided to repair my CC toilet when the old syphon unit gave up, but this kit was much more expensive than tradional syphons and Inlet valves.
I'm glad I did though as this system, both the Flapper and the Valve, work really well.
I've now upgraded all three of my cisterns with this kit and would recommend it above any traditonal syphon replacement.

Plus points: Well Engineered; Easy to fit and leaves plenty of room in the Cistern.
Reservation: "Universal Kit" is Not designed for Side Flush Handle only Front Handle. I was able to adapt using some of the Old Parts.
Watch you do not accidently knock the Top off the Inlet Value as the water will then shoot straight up.
You may need to shorten the Internal Overflow pipe depending on your Cistern depth. If you have an existing overflow I would retained this, otherwise you have to blank off the hole in the Cistern. Note that there is no Blanking Bung in the Universal Kit.

The instructions are clear and easy to follow. You will need to take the cistern off the wall, as advised. Worth getting an adjustable wrench large enough to fully tighten the plastic nut. Other than that proviso it can be installed by a novice in about 30 minutes. Installed for a couple of months. A quick release of the handle for low cistern water drop, hold down handle to full water drop. Much easier than the double button controls on some toilets.

Wanted eco friendly new system, so bought this, took a long time to set up correctly, works very well but seems a bit flimsy.
