Rated 4 out of 5 by Ron expensive but beautiful
I bought the more expensive and hard wearing modern (not estate) House White paint(which is a cream - not at all white) for our hall, stairs and landing walls. I prepared the walls and painted them with a white matt emulsion and applied the first coat of house white. The paint went a long way, but I needed a second coat. On applying a second coat the finish was a beautiful sheen unlike other paints.
I would give this paint 5 stars if it wasn't for the price - more than twice the price of Dulux or Crown which I normally use.
A further note - if you try to hide any indiscretions by applying a thick coat of the paint - it cracks like dried mud. I therefore think this paint is for the serious decorator who will prepare well before using the paint

Have used F&B paints before and even though I would prefer to use the estate emulsion version for the unique chalky appearance, I have several pets and need to be able to wipe marks off walls without wrecking the paintwork. As this is a water-based paint, it can handle being wiped so is more modern living friendly. I chose this shade for a north facing bedroom and whilst I had my reservations at first, I now really like it. It in no way resembles white whatsoever though and would probably be more accurate if it was called House Creamy Lemon. That said it brings a real warmth and happy atmosphere to the room and whilst by day it is a creamy pale yellow, by night with artificial lights, it really does look very yellow.
