This paint is great and an excellent price. It has an easy to use consistency and gives good coverage. Recommended

Excellent coverage and leaves no brush marks. Really good value for money, better than some of the big named brands we have used previously.

In the past I have had excellent results applying satin paint by brush and then using a fine roller to get a smooth even surface. I tried this paint on a new door which came already primed white. I found it difficult to get an even coverage with the brush, and with the roller the paint felt sticky and tended to pull off the door rather than spread, resulting in a finish that was more like 'eggshell'. It needed a second coat. But the time I had finished brushing on a second coat to one side of the door, it had already dried enough to prevent me from rolling out the brush strokes. 'Quick drying' is not always a good thing. The 750 ml tin was used up on just one door. Homebase paints I generally find very good but this one was a disappointment.

This does the job if you're painting over wood that's already white and just needs freshening up. Easy to work with, easy to clean up too! However, I bought it to whiten doors that were mahogany varnished. After hefty sanding, 2 coats of undercoat, and FOUR coats of this stuff, you could still easily see the dark colour through it. Took tin back under the Homebase Satisfaction Guarantee. No problem- full refund and staff very helpful. Bought a different brand and hey presto, job complete in one further coat of Satinwood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Helper-outer Good finish & easy to use
Being water-based, this is the ideal paint to use if you do not want the house smelling of spirits. I used this over the equivalent undercoat & found it very easy to apply. In honesty, you need to apply it relatively thickly so that, as it dries, any brush marks settle. It was easy to remove when any cutting in got a little approximate(!) Having used similar paints in the past, I confidently expect it to stay brilliant white, rather than to fade to cream as spirit paints tend to do. Also, as it is virtually an emulsion, it will need less rubbing down when it comes to redecorating.
The only thing I would suggest is that it MAY be better to avoid areas of heavy abrasion as I feel that it might be less hard-wearing but, as said, a new coat would be quickly prepared.
